Mongoose "Know Your Roots" Roadtrip Episode 2

Mongoose Bicycles have been around for a long time, as you probably all know. Since the early days of BMX in the 70's Mongoose has been leading the way in total radness when it comes to the two wheeled, pedal powered variety of stunting your bike. Times haven't changed even now in 2011 and Mongoose thought it was important to recognise the history of the brand by organising an absolute mother of a roadtrip across Western USA. Starting in Denver, passing through Angel Fire in New Mexico, through various stops in the Utah desert and a quick stop in Las Vegas and finally finishing up in Los Angeles, Mongoose Bicycles presents the "Know Your Roots" Roadtrip.

Episode 2 begins where we left off in New Mexico as the team set off from Angel Fire to travel to Moab in the Utah desert. The landscape changes from lush mountain scenery, through to huge orange rocks and jagged cliffs and burning hot sunshine. We were all pretty excited to get riding as soon as possible and our first stop took us to a freeride zone just out of town and right off the highway. Amir and Romo pretty much sent everything there (being the professional bike stunting and total radness experts that they are), which got us a stonking mini section and set us up great for the next day of riding.

drop

Bartlett Wash was the next stop and Romo was keen to get out to the slick rock haven of drops and bowls. This was a really weird experience for all of us except for him and we were so surprised at the grip of the sandstone on the tyres. Even Amir's dirt jump bike which I was riding (with rock solid slick tyres) could go across the off camber without losing any grip. Amir stepped it up with some technical drops on his Mongoose Nugget and Romo impressed us all with some longer flowy lines on the rock. Another quick getaway after some awesome shots and we were on our way again, this time to Virgin Utah where we sessioned some jumps and drops at the old rampage site. Amir definitely stepped up here and showed us all why he's not just a dirt jumper!

table

After Virgin, it was onwards to Vegas for a massive night out and then straight out the door the next day to travel to our final destination, LA where we met up with some old school Mongoose legends for dinner to celebrate the success of what was an EPIC trip!

On tour

Thanks to Mongoose Bicycles for putting this whole trip together!

To Amir Kabbani and other people who are not from the USA: You don't have to say "like" after like every two or so words. It's not like a part of English grammar and it just sounds like, you know, like, kind of retarded... English is a beautiful language and there are other ways to create a coherent sentence Smile
Great video by the way!

So true, though. It makes we want to vomit when I hear the word overused like that.
"Like totally..." BARF...

From a linguistic standpoint he is using like as a filler, which is what you do when you're speaking a second language. His English is pretty damn good considering he probably wasn't surrounded that much by it as a kid. Sick video!

Great to see some footage of the super sweet trails I call home on the bike! Thanks for not revealing how to get out there, much respect to the riders & shooters. Bartlett Wash rules, I need to get back out there.
