It's about time that hope made a boss crown, and also coloured the cottom crowns for all double/triple crown forks Smile

I've never seen a "triple" crown.... sounds interesting. Smile

Tbh i have no idea as to the difference between a double and triple crown fork. The old monster T's flash into my head but other than that I have only heard the name Smile

flag baca262 (Nov 24, 2011 at 13:39)
there's no such thing as triple crown, only triple tree = double crown.

btw lol @ Keep it civil! Be constructive and on-topic.

flag dirteveryday (Nov 24, 2011 at 13:59)
James, there's only two kinds of forks: Dual crown and single crown. The crown being the chunk of aluminum(or aluminium if you work at Hope, apparently) that holds the stanchion tubes and steerer tube. A dual crown would also have one above the frame as well. A DH fork.
And that's as civil as I can be while biting my tongue...

flag kevz0r (Nov 24, 2011 at 14:03)
Its a triple clamp if you wish. Its what all the motocrossers call their fork crowns. one clamp for each stanchion and one for the steerer. Although the steerer is pressed into the lower crown just like a mountain bike lower crown.

flag Bjammin (Nov 24, 2011 at 20:16)
you could technically call the bridge between the lowers of a fork a crown too, and then you could have triple crowns. But then you couldn't have single crowns, b'c those would be double crowns

We truely need more companies like this in the sport. Designing and building each component in house, and not in taiwan, or buying it out of a catologue and stamping their logo on it. This video instills a sign of quality in the product. Definetly will not hesitate buying Hope products. Good job Hope.

This video was well created along with the people over at hope. I've never really looked into hope until now. They put so much pride and joy in making their products and that fact that it's all in-house is amazing. This video makes me want to purchase some hope stuff.

Makes you think - if Hope can make everything they sell right there in the UK and still be competitively priced with all the other manufacturers who get their stuff made for a fraction of the cost in Taiwan or wherever, then what sort of obscene profits are all these other companies making? And more to the point, how much are we all being ripped off?!

Very impressed with the video by the way. That laser was rad.

flag Marlfox87 (Nov 25, 2011 at 20:09)
Generally goes to Advertising, Sponsorships, and paying the much larger employee base. It didn't say in the film, but Hope seemed to be pretty small when compared to larger companies like Mavic, SRAM, Shimano, etc.. So in short.. smaller overhead allows for an equally profitable percentage without having to cut costs in production.

flag mozz (Nov 26, 2011 at 4:59)
The cool reality is that the CNC machine cost the same all round the globe, so the only real difference is in setting up a factory is rent and staffing costs. But once you've developed a manufacturing process that is robotised the staffing cost come down and your products can be competitively priced. Also with all the staff being passionate cyclist lots of creative ideas will come from in house and people are willing to work for longer as they are passionate about the final product.
  • + 1
flag Marlfox87 (Nov 26, 2011 at 12:40)
But what about standard running costs like electricity, routine maintenance, or taxes. I wonder if there's a significant enough difference between countries, or access to parts and what not that factors into whether a company can stay in house or has to outsource. I've always like Hope parts, but having worked in a bike shop and seen some of the profit margins, alot of Companies like Race Face, Truvativ, Sunline, Avid, Shimano etc... are more profitable for bike shops to sell in America because they don't have to pay as much in overseas shipping. But after coming to Europe I've seen alot more products like POC, Hope,etc.. because these companies are more local to the European market.

Simply the best, had Hope on my bike since the day they started and would'nt have anything else. Just wish the rest of the UK cycling industry had the same passion and desire to manufacture in the UK, why are we still importing when its been shown we can do it right here. We have the skills and the workforce, now all we need is the men with the money to invest in UK MANUFACTURING! Surely this shows we can mass produce frames here now for the same cost. Things may be cheap in Tiawan but by the time its gone through the chain of companies it takes to get to the shop its as expensive as making it here. Thank god for Hope Technology!

I do actually work there and still found it sort of interesting ha, as for people asking about pedals, weve got a couple of people testing them at the moment, (me being one). As with all hope parts though, they will not be rushed into production to make money they will be tested properly untill ready.

It's always interesting to see how people react to things like this and its surprising to see people across the globe who don't really know Hope that well. They are as much a part of biking here in the UK as the mud rocks and roots we all roll over. Hope make some sublime looking components and the quality is always ( always) superb, as is their customer service. I would say I'd be hard pushed to find a serious rider here in the UK that doesn't have or want some Hope part on their bike. My bike has a healthy smattering of hope stuff, not just cos I like their stuff, but because it ticks all the right boxes when it comes to high performance quality gear.
